Welcome to Nursery!

At Manley Park Primary School we believe children learn best when they are healthy, safe and secure, when their individual needs are met, and when they have positive relationships with the adults caring for them. In Nursery we provide a welcoming, safe and stimulating environment, where children are able to grow in confidence. We ensure that every child receives enjoyable and challenging learning and development experiences tailored to meet their needs.

Nursery Information Leaflet

The Learning Environment

Children learn and develop well in enabling environments, in which their experiences respond to their individual needs and there is a strong partnership between practitioners and parents and carers. We provide a rich and varied environment which supports children’s learning and development. It gives them the confidence to explore and learn in secure and safe, yet challenging, indoor and outdoor spaces.

  • The Early Years Foundation Stage classrooms are organised to allow children to independently explore and learn securely and safely.

  • Each classroom is organised into areas of continuous provision that are displayed and maintained to support children’s experiences as independent learners.

  • Both the Nursery and Reception children have continuous access to an area of outdoor provision.

  • Outdoor learning is valued across the Early Years Foundations Stage.

Children develop and learn in different ways. In our nursery we teach children buy ensuring challenging, playful opportunities across the prime and specific areas of learning development.

Prime Areas

  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development

  • Physical Development

  • Communication and Language

Specific Areas

  • Literacy

  • Mathematics

  • Understanding the World

  • Expressive Arts and Design

In our EYFS we believe that the ways in which children engage with other people and their environment – playing and exploring, active learning, and creating and thinking critically - underpin learning and development across all areas and support children remain effective and motivated learners. At Manley Park practitioners reflect on the different ways that children learn.

At Manley Park primary School we learn phonics through 'Letters and Sounds' in Nursery and Reception
